Ethnic or racial diversity has no significant impact on the performance of the new ventures. The cognitive conflict positively moderates the effect of the team diversity, while the emotional conflict negatively affects this relationship. The results of our econometric analysis based on a sample of 184 new ventures show that gender, skills and experience diversity have a positive impact on the performance of these enterprises. The purpose of this article is to analyse the effect of the entrepreneurial team diversity and conflicts among its members on the performance of new ventures. However, in spite of their numerical and economical importance, creations in teams have not been subject to scientific interest despite their consistency. According to the Cameroonian National Institute of Statistics (NIS, 2009), more than 66% of new ventures in Cameroon are Limited Liability Companies, representing the major jobs provider. We believe in the future in Cameroon.Researches on entrepreneurship reach a conclusion that more and more companies are created by teams rather than by sole entrepreneurs (Klotz et al., 2014). “We produce locally at a better quality which makes us less dependent on other continents. “We have built clinker bans in Nigeria and by exporting clinker to Cameroon we earn foreign currency in Nigeria and by producing cement within Cameroon we save foreign currency,” he said. He said Cameroon was a good opportunity for the Dangote Group because it can now take advantage of limestone reserves in Nigeria which we are lacking in Cameroon. “It’s more environmental friendly and cheaper to produce.” “Africa is still importing cement from all the continents so there is a clear for a locally produced heavy material,” added Weijde. Weijde said the new plant in Cameroon would help save the much needed foreign currency and shed the burden of foreign imports. “Thousands of jobs are being created through having this factory here,” he added.ĭangote Cement’s factory has the capacity to produce 1.5 million metric tonnes of cement annually. Weijde told CNBC Africa that about 150 to 300 jobs have been created directly due to the Dangote factory in Cameroon and many more indirectly. Dangote Group is set to create thousands of jobs after it opened a cement factory in Cameroon, according to its Managing Director Onne Vander Weijde.
